1 minute ‘blackout’ on March 25 night

Staff Correspondent: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said one-minute ‘blackout’ program will be observed from 9pm to 9:01pm on March 25 to commemorate the Genocide in 1971.
The minister made the announcement while addressing reporters after a meeting at conference room of the secretariat in the capital on Sunday noon.
Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that sufficient security will be provided to the President, Prime Minister, foreign diplomats during the visit to National Memorial at Savar.
“Special security measures will be taken in diplomatic zones and KPI areas. There will be tight security across the country ahead of March 25 and March 26,” he said.
“We are going to take steps to observe the day properly. The program will be observed across Bangladesh except some emergency establishments.”
In reply to a query, the home minister said, “The government will not cut power supply. We will turn off our own electric switches. News will be aired through media including television, print in this regard.”
Mostafa Kamal Uddin, secretary of the public security division of the home ministry, IGP Mohammad Jabed Patwari, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Mia and others attended the programme.
