11 JU students expelled for ragging

Jahangirnagor University (JU) authority has permanently expelled 11 students on charge of ragging.

The authority took the decision in a special syndicate meeting on December 19. The office issued a notification about the decision on Thursday.

The expelled students are Harun-ur-Rashid and Muhammad Mahbubul Alam of Shaheed Salaam-Barkat Hall, Enamul Haque Tamim of Rabindranath Tagore Hall, Raisul Islam Raju, Tawseef Abdullah, Salgna Rema, Zakir Hossain Jiban and Md. Mahbubul Alam of Maulana Bhasani Hall and Sara Binat Salah, Saima Lima and Fabiha Binte Haque of Begum Khaleda Zia Hall.

Related sources said that the students of the second years of the Journalism and Media Studies Department had been expelled on charge of ragging the first year’s students.

The authority also warned some other students who managed to escape the charge due to lack of sufficient evidences.
