11 Shibir activists arrested in Jhenaidah

Police in a drive arrested eleven activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh, on charges of sabotage from Bethuli village in Kaliganj upazila of Jhenaidah district on Friday evening.
The arrestees were sent to jail after interrogating them at 11:00am on Saturday, confirmed Hasanuzzaman, superintendent of Jhenaidah police.
Acting on a tiff-off, police conducted a drive in the area and arrested them while they were holding a clandestine meeting for carrying out sabotage, said Hasanuzzaman.
Police also recovered two cocktails, four iron rods, two knives and some leaflets from the spot.
A case was filed with the police station in this connection at night, he added.
Shibir’s district unit former president Md Shahabuddin alias Saddam was among the arrestees.
