1160 overseas returnees in home quarantine in Satkhira

A total of 197 people, who returned home from abroad recently, have been kept in home quarantine in last 24 hours in Satkhira district.

With this, a total of 1,160 overseas returnees remained in home quarantine in last eight days in the district.

Besides, one has remained in isolation unit of Satkhira Sadar Hospital.

District Civil Surgeon Dr Md Hussain Safayat confirmed the matter to risingbd on Tuesday (March 24).

Among the overseas returnees, 20 have been kept in home quarantine in Satkhira Sadar upazila, 45 in Kalaroa, 44 in Tala, 38 in Kaliganj, 30 in Shyamnagar, 4 in Ashashuni and 24 in Debhata, Dr Safayat said.

A total of 9,324 people returned home from overseas countries in last 20 days (from March 1 to 20) among of whom 8,164 have remained out of home quarantine, he said.

Still now, no one is found to be infected with coronavirus (COVID-19) in the district, he added.

Deputy commissioner SM Mostafa Kamal, also the president of Satkhira district coronavirus prevention and control committee, said the district administration, police administration and health department are doing their best to bring all the foreign returnees under home quarantine.
