12 pirates surrender with arms, ammunition

Patuakhali Correspondent: Some 12 pirates of Noa group of Sundarbans have surrendered with arms and ammunition.


The pirates officially capitulated to Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal at Rakhine market ground of Kuakata on Saturday noon. Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) organised the surrender ceremony.

 

Director General of RAB Benazir Ahmed, Captain of RAB-8 Lt Col Anwar-uz-Zaman and members of law enforcement agencies were present at the ceremony.

 

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal handed over Tk 20,000 donation and warm clothes to each family of the pirates.

 

The surrendered pirates are Chief of Noa group Md Baki Billah Mia, 37, Md Monirul Sheikh, 38, Manzur Mollah alias Ranga, 42, Md Mukta Sheikh, 37, Md Toriqul Sheikh, 60, Md Akbar Sheikh, 42, Md Kibria Morol, 40, Md Jahangir alias Mejo Bhai, 48, Al-Amin Sikdar, 50, Younuch Sheikh alias Dulal Thakur, 40, Miladul Mollah alias Kalu Dakat, 28, Mosharraf Hossain, 37. They all are residents of different villages of Mongla and Rampal of Bagerhat district.
