14th Padma Bridge span to be installed today

Secretariat Correspondent: The installation work of 14th span (superstructure) of the Padma Bridge began at the Mawa point in Munshiganj on Thursday.

The 14th span will be installed on the 15th and 16th pillars of the bridge. With this installation, a total of 2,100 meters of the bridge will be visible.

Bridge Division sources said the span will be installed on Thursday if everything remains fine. Otherwise, the span will be installed on Friday (June 28). The installation work delayed due to rain this morning.

Padma Bridge project executive engineer (main structure) Dewan Abdul Kader said, the span will be taken to the pillar from special yard of Kumarbhog using floating crane. Two pillars were kept ready for installing the span.

A total of 41 spans—each 150-metres-long—will be placed on the 42 pillars of the 6.15 kilometre bridge.
