Staff Correspondent, Chattogram: A fire triggered by a blast of a microbus gas cylinder left around 15 people burnt at Patiya in Chattogram.
The accident took place at a place adjacent to Pourashava’s PTI training centre when the vehicle was on its way from Shah Amanat International Airport towards Chandnaish around 11:45pm on Tuesday, according to police.
12 of them were admitted to the Chattogram Medical College Hospital’s burns unit, police said.
Some of the victims were identified as ‘Belal’, ‘Abul Kalam’, ‘Zahir’, ‘Arif’, Lokman Mia, ‘Abdul Alam’, Idris Mia, ‘Helal’, ‘Mamun’, ‘Towhidul Islalm’, ‘Abir’, and ‘Jahangir’.
All of them are believed to be members of a family that went to the airport to receive or see off a relative, the policeman said.
Md Kaiser, doctor at the emergency department of Patiya Upazila Health Complex, said members of fire service and police brought the 15 burnt people to the hospital out of them 12 are in critical condition.
