10-km tailback on Dhaka-Chittagong highway

Comilla Correspondent: A 10-kilometer tailback has ensued at Munshiganj, Narayanganj and Daudkandi bridge area of Comilla on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway.
The tailback ensued from Meghna bridge of Munshiganj to toll plaza of Daudkandi bridge around 10:30am on Saturday.
Though traffic congestion was seen at the part of the highway on Friday night, it was quite normal in the wee hours of Saturday. But with rising the sun, a long tailback ensued there again.
Officials of Comilla Highway Police could not tell the reason behind the traffic jam.
However, the long tailback at Daudkandi and Munshiganj Meghna bridge area was caused due to several reasons which includes slow activities of Meghna and Gomoti bridge toll officers, collecting extra money in name of additional weight from freight cars and construction works at Madanpur of Narayanganj.
It also affected Comilla part, claimed the regional highway police.
Abdul Kalam Azad, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Daudkandi Highway Police Station, said, “Tailback caused by excessive vehicles. Highway police are alert to make it normal.
