2 ‘drug traders’ killed in Teknaf ‘gunfight’

Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: Two suspected drug traders were killed in a ‘gunfight’ between drug traders and police in the district’s Teknaf upazila early Friday.
The gunfight took place in Khurermukh area under Sabrang union in Teknaf upazila.
The deceased were identified as Hohammad Saddam, 30, son of Sultan Ahmed and Saddam, 35, at Sabrang.
Officer-in-Charge of Teknaf Police Station Pradeep Kumar Das said a team of police went there to arrest criminals. Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the criminals opened fire on police, forcing them to fire back in self-defense that triggered a gunfight.
After a brief gunfight, police recovered two bullet-hit bodies from the spot and sent those to Teknaf Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared them dead.
Three sharp weapons, 20 bullets and 20,000 pieces of Yaba tablets were recovered from the spot.
