2 killed in capital ‘gunfight’

Staff Correspondent: Two suspected robbers were killed in a ‘gunfight’ with members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in the capital early Tuesday.

Being informed that a gang of robbers was taking preparations behind Rayerbazar Graveyard to commit robbery, a team of Rab-2 conducted a raid there.

Sensing the presence of the elite force, the gang members opened fire on them, triggering the gunfight.

The gunfight left the duo injured with bullets.

The injured were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the duty doctors declared them dead, said Sub-inspector Bacchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost.
