2 killed in city ‘gunfight’

Staff Correspondent: Two people were killed in a ‘gunfight’ with RAB in front of Madhu city in Hazaribagh area early Monday.

The deceased were identified as Monir, 45, and Gias, 33. RAB claimed that they were members of a hijacking gang.

According to RAB, a gang came to Dhaka after hijacking a tea leaf-laden covered van of Ispahani Company from Sreemangal.

In front of Madhu city of Hazaribagh area, RAB members tried to stop the covered-van and it hit a pillar. Then some people of the covered-van continued to fire on RAB members. For self-defense, RAB members also backed fire that triggered a gunfight. Two bullet-hit people were rescued from the spot and others managed to flee from the spot.  The injured two people were taken to a hospital where duty doctors declared them dead.
