2 killed in separate 'gunfights' in Kushtia

Kushtia Correspondent: At least two drug traders were killed in separate two 'gunfights' in the district on Tuesday midnight.
The gunfights took place in Kaburhat area of Kushtia sadar upazila and Muslimnagar area of Daulatpur upazila.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kushtia Model Thana Nasir Uddin said a team of police raided the Kaburhat Madrasapara area after two groups of drug traders exchanged fire. Seeing the presence of the policemen, drug traders opened fire on them forcing the policemen to back fire that triggered a gunfight. Drug traders fled from the spot. Later, police recovered an unknown bullet-hit person and he was rushed to Kushtia General Hospital but doctors declared him dead.
A foreign pistol, three rounds of bullets and 800 pieces of Yaba were recovered from the spot.
Four policemen including Kushtia Model Thana IS were injured in this incident.
On the other hand, Officer-in-Charge of Doulatpur Thana Shah Dara Khan said that the police raided the spot after a gunfight between two groups of drug dealers at Muslimnagar ground around 3.00pm. In presence of policemen, drug traders fled from the spot. But police recovered a bullet-hit person from the spot and he was taken to a Doulatpur hospital where the duty doctors declared him dead.
The deceased was identified as Madan (45). He was the son of Rifaz Uddin at Jamalpur village.
Police also recovered a foreign pistol, three rounds of bullets, 900 pieces of yaba and 30 bottles of Phensidyl from the spot.
