25 arrested in special drives

Gopalganj Correspondent: Police arrested 25 people with drugs and fake notes in special drives across the district.

The drives were conducted in different places of the district since Friday night to early Saturday.

Azizur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kashiani Police Station, and in-charges concerned of the other police stations said the drives were conducted to keep law and order situation under control.

Eight were arrested in Muksudpur while seven in Kotaparha, two in Gopalganj sadar and one in Tungiparha.

According to Kashiani OC Azizur Rahman, a drive was conducted at Vaduria village. Law enforcers seized 5.2kg hemp and fake notes of Tk 5,700 from the house of one Waheduzzaman Ranju, 45. Later, he along with his wife Monira Begum, 22, were arrested.

Besides, five more people were arrested in the drive in Kashiani, he added.

The arrestees include accused in different cases. They were produced before the district court, the OC said.
