25,000 people to get jobs in Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City

Risingbd Desk: About 25,000 new job opportunities are expected to be created with an investment of US$ 14 million in the country’s first hi-tech park – Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City – in Gazipur as plots have already been allotted to nine companies to set up their industries in the park.
The companies received their plots by signing an agreement today (September 25) at a function at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) here in the capital.
Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar spoke at the function as the chief guest while State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak as special guest.
Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority Managing Director Hosne Ara Begum and other officials concerned attended the function with ICT Division Secretary Zuena Aziz in the chair.
Addressing the function, Mustafa Jabbar said various programmes have already been taken to attract entrepreneurs to invest in the country’s hi- tech parks being constructed under the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority.
As part of the programmes, a seminar was held in Sylhet on September 2, he said, adding that programmes have also been taken to arrange seminar and road-show in London in this week.
Under the agreement, 20.5 acres of land were allocated to the nine companies. Of those, Robi Axiata Limited got 1.5 acres of land while Fair Electronics Limited got 3 acres, a software development company comprised of BJIT Bangladesh and Japanese investment institution 2 acres, KDS Group 3 acres, Intercloud Limited 3 acres, Genex Infosys Limited 2 acres, Nazdaq Technologies Limited 2 acres, JR Enterprise 2 acres and Business Automation Limited 2 acres.
