26th int'l trade fair opens in Chittagong

Staff Correspondent: The month-long 26th Chittagong International Trade Fair (CITF) has been inaugurated today (Saturday) in the city’s Railway Pologround with a view to promoting domestic products in the international markets.

Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan formally inaugurated the fair organised by the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) at Bangabandhu Conference Hall at World Trade Centre (WTC) in Chittagong this afternoon.

State Minister for Land Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Javed, Chittagong Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin, MA Latif MP, CCCI president Mahbubul Alam and First Vice President of Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Fazle Fahim were present as special guests at the inaugural ceremony.

CCCI Vice President and the fair committee Co-Chairman Syed Jamal Ahmed presided over the inaugural ceremony.

Over 272 stalls of 450 companies have been set up in the fair sprawling across four lakh square feet areas of Railway Pologround, including 17 premier gold pavilions, 11 premier pavilions, eight standard pavilions, 172 premier mega stalls, 23 mega stalls, 14 premier gold stalls, 13 premier stalls, 14 standard stalls and three restaurants.

The fair will remain open from 10:00am to 10:00pm for visitors and the price of ticket is Tk10. To ensure security of the fair, law enforcers will be deployed and CCTV cameras will be on at the key points.

Besides, an information desk to help visitors will be opened. Bkash and Standard UCB Ltd will open their branches in the fair venue.

Some of the leading industrial enterprises of home and abroad including Iran, India, Thailand and Malaysia are going to participate in the fair.
