Staff Correspondent, Gazipur: The second phase of Bishwa Ijtema has begun after Fazr prayers on the bank of the Turag River at Tongi in Gazipur on Sunday.
Anisuzzaman, a senior person of Tabligh Jamaat said that the ijtema began with ‘a’m bayan’ (general sermons) by the Indian Mawlana Hafez Iqbal.
Earlier in the morning, rain or thunder showers, accompanied by gusty wind lashed Tongi and adjacent areas creating sufferings to the pilgrims in Bishwa Ijtema.
The Ijtema's first phase was held from January 15 to 16 and the second one from January 17 to 18.
Tabligh Jamaat has been organising the Ijtema at the venue since 1967. The Ijtema was held in two phases from 2011 to 2017 to ease the accommodation and transportation problem.
