3 ‘human traffickers’ killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘gunfight’

Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: Three alleged human traffickers were killed in a reported gunfight with police in Teknaf upazila early Tuesday.
Officer-in-Charge of Teknaf Model Police Station Pradip Kumar Das said the gunfight took place at Maheskhaliapara under Teknaf Sadar union.
The deceased were identified as Korban Ali, 30, son of Abdus Shukur at Golapara under Sabrang union, Abdul Kader, 25, son of Ali Hossain at Kaukkhali, and Abdur Rahman, 30, son of Sultal Ahmed hailed from same area of Teknaf upazila.
Police claimed that three of its members were also injured in the gunfight. The injured policemen are assistant sub-inspector Sayef, and constables Mong and Mohammad Shukkur.
Tipped-off, a team of police conducted a raid in the area to arrest the trio. Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the traffickers opened fire on them prompting police to retaliate that triggered the gunfight, the OC said.
Three locally made guns, 15 bullets and 20 cartridges were recovered from the scene.
