3 including abduction victim killed in cylinder explosion

Staff Correspondent, Narayanganj: Three members of a family were killed and four others, including three policemen, injured when the gas cylinder of a microbus exploded in Tangail town on Tuesday.

The deceased are Jannatul Ferdous Bonya, her cousin Faruk Hossain, and her maternal uncle Sirajul Islam of Vaati Bandar under Sonargaon in Narayanganj.

Tangail police super Sanjit Kumar Roy told the correspondent that the CNG-run microbus was carrying seven people including a police team from Narayanganj’s Sonargaon Police Station.

They were returning after rescuing Bonya, an abduction victim, from Bagmara in Rajshahi.
The gas cylinder exploded at Kumudini College intersection around 4:30am leaving the three dead on the spot.

Tangail Fire Service and Civil Defence senior station officer Abdur Razzak said fire fighters recovered the bodies, rescued the injured and took them to Tangail General Hospital.

The injured are sub-inspector Tanvir, assistant sub-inspector Habib and constable Azahar.
Two of the seriously injured police members were referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Tanvir Ahmed, sub-inspector of Sonargaon Police Station, said Jannatul Ferdous fled home over her affair with a boy.

After an abduction case was filed by her family, a police team from Narayanganj went to Rajshahi along with her family members to rescue her.
