3 killed, 2 injured in landslide

Staff Correspondent: Three workers were killed and two others injured in a landslide while cutting soil in a hill in Ghumdhum area under Naikhongchhari upazila of Bandarban on Monday.

Ghumdhum union parishad chairman Jahangir Aziz told risingbd.com that the landslide took place at Monjoypara area of Ghumdhum around 12:30pm.

Five workers were working for a drainage system since the morning, said Jahangir Aziz.

Soil fell on them all of a sudden, leaving Sona Meher, Md Abu, Nurul Hakim and Jamiruddin trapped under soil.

At one stage, one was rescued by locals in a critical condition and sent to a local hospital for treatment.

Around 6:30pm, Nurul Hakim rescued alive by the members of the fire service.

Immediately after the incident, it was confirmed by different sources that all the five workers were killed.
