30 hurt in Jamalpur clash

Jamalpur Correspondent: At least 30 people have sustained injuries in a triangular clash among the activists of the Awami League, locals and policemen in Pingna Narpara village under Sarisabari upazila of the district.

Police and locals said that following an information that a local Awami League activist got release from jail recently and allegedly attacked two people named Mostafa and Yusuf on Friday morning. Following the rumor, a group attacked other group in the area and torched 20 houses on Saturday.

Later, on information, police rushed to the spot and fired four rounds of tear-shell and 10 rounds of rubber bullets to bring the situation under contro, leaving 30 people injured.

Sarishabari police station Officer-in-charge Mazharul Islam said additional police forces were deployed to avert untoward situation.
