31 Santals get bail in Gobindaganj police case

Gaibandha Correspondent: A court in Gaibandha granted bail to 31 Santals who were accused in a case filed for attacking police during a clash on November 6 last year at Gobindaganj upazila in Gaibandha.

The court of Gaibandha Judicial Magistrate ASM Taskinul Haque passed the order on Sunday noon.

Mizanur Rahman Mandal, assistant public prosecutor (APP) of Gaibandha Judicial Magistrate court, said the 31 Santals petitioned for their bail through their lawyers after appearing before the court in the morning.

Later, the court granted them bail after hearing in the case.

Miscreants torched up houses belonging to nearly 2,500 Santals in Shahebganj area in Gobindaganj over a conflict regarding land properties on November 6 last year. Many Santals were injured during a conflict among the Santal, local Bangalis and police. A case was filed against more than hundred Santals.
