33 killed in 'gunfights' with RAB in May

Staff Correspondent: A total of 33 suspected drug traders were killed in the ongoing anti-drug drive with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in May month.
RAB claimed the elite force conducted 837 raids across the country from May 4 to June 1.
A total of 1,026 suspected drug peddlers were detained on charge of drug trading during the drive. The RAB also seized drugs worth Tk 62 crore. The drugs included Heroin, Yaba pills, phensidyl, cannabis, local and foreign liquor.
The sources of RAB headquarters said RAB also arrested 3,619 people conducting 429 mobile courts. Of them 3,053 were jailed and fined in various categories.
Commander Mufti Mahmud Khan, Rab's legal and media wing director, said the ongoing anti-drug drive will continue.
