35 houses gutted in Gazipur fire, one killed

Staff Correspondent, Gazipur: A man was killed and a child was severely burnt as a fire broke out at a colony in Payarabagan area under Bason police station in the city on Thursday night.

The deceased was identified as Sabed Ali, 60, hailing from Rangpur while his niece Shimul, 8, was severely burnt.

Shimul has been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

At least 35 houses were also gutted in the fire.According to sources, the fire broke out at Swapon Sramik Colony around 9:00pm. On information, three units of firefighters rushed in and doused the flame after one hour’s frantic efforts.
