3,500 police men for PM's rally in Khulna

Staff Correspondent, Khulna: Some 3, 500 police members are set to deploy to ensure security of the public meeting to be held on Khulna circuit house premises where Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will deliver speeches on March 3.

Local administration has taken steps to ensure a three-tier security measures around the meeting spot.

Khulna City and the District Awami League is arranging the public meeting.

Humayun Kabir, Commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP), came up with the disclosure at a press briefing on Thursday noon.

KMP Commissioner said, "Police in plain-clothes are performing duties around circuit house premise while arms police have been deployed around the stage for a week. Activities of suspects are being monitored."

"Check posts have been set up at different points while police and RAB men are patrolling across the city," he added.

He said, "Some 93 close circuit cameras have been set up from Khalishpur Eid ground to the Circuit House. At least 35 cameras have been set up at the meeting spot alone."

"At least 200 female police will be deployed at the meeting spot. Metal detectors at the meeting ground while traffic sergeants will control vehicle movement at important intersections," KMP Commissioner said.

Deputy Commissioner (DC-Sadar) SM Fazlur Rahman, DC (South) Abdullah Aref, DC (North) Mollah Jahangir Hossain, Superintendent of Police (SP) of the city SB Rashida Begum and KMP spokesperson Soanli among others were present during the briefing.
