44 more high schools nationalised

Secretariat Correspondent: The government has nationalised 44 more high schools across the country.

Now, the total number of government secondary schools stands at 550.

Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education published a gazette notification in this regard on Thursday.

According to the notification, the 44 schools have been nationalised since September 13. But on duty teachers of the schools would not be able to transfer to somewhere.

Mentionable, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had announced to be nationalise a school and a college in every upazila across the country. After the declaration, statistics shows that there is no government high school in 315 upazilas while government college in 321 upazilas.

Since the announcement, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave approval on policy for 199 non-government colleges and 303 high schools for nationalisation. As part of the announcement, the 44 high schools were also nationalised.
