Staff Correspondent: Customs officials have seized 4.64 kilograms of gold hidden underneath an airplane seat at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital.
Assistant Director of Dhaka Customs Office HM Ahsanul Kabir said the gold was found at a US-Bangla Airlines flight from Singapore, which arrived in Dhaka on Monday morning.
The customs preventive team searched the flight after being tipped off and found a black bag hidden underneath the foam of the seat. They recovered 40 gold biscuits from the bag.
The market value of the gold is close to Tk 2.32 crore, said the customs official.
No one has been arrested over the gold haul.
