5 city corporation polls in July: CEC

Staff Correspondent, Rajshahi: The Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda said the election of five city corporations-Khulna, Rajshahi, Barisal, Sylhet and Gazipur will be held in July.

The CEC made the disclosure while addressing newsmen after visiting Paba upazila parisad election office in Rajshahi on Thursday.

He said Gazipur, Khulna, Barisal, Rajshahi and Sylhet city corporations will be held before the national parliament election. However, the date is not fixed yet.

But, it can be said that all the elections will be held in July month, he added.

Nurul Huda also said that Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) will be used this time during city corporation elections.

Meanwhile, he expressed hope that all political parties including BNP will join the upcoming national election.
