6 killed as bus rams auto-rickshaw

Feni Correspondent: At least six people including two women were killed and two others injured as a bus rammed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Lemua area on Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Feni on Friday afternoon.

All the casualties were passengers of the auto-rickshaw. Of the deceased, auto-rickshaw driver Ruhul Amin, 50, was identified while others could not be known immediately. Ruhul Amin is a resident of ward-15 of Feni municipality.

Being informed, a team of Fire Service rushed to the spot and rescued the bodies. The bodies were sent to Feni Sadar Hospital morgue.

Abdul Awal Chowdhury, In-Charge of Highway Police outpost, confirmed the news.

He said, “A speedy bus of Shyamoli Paribahan hit the auto-rickshaw while it was crossing Dhaka-Chattogram highway at Lemua area around 5:30pm, leaving three dead on the spot. Three others succumbed to their injuries on their way to Feni Sadar Hospital.”

Though police seized the bus, its driver, however, managed to flee after the incident.
