6 robbers held with arms in Gazipur

Staff Correspondent: Police held six robbers while they were trying to commit robbery at the city's Gazipura area early Friday.

Law enforcers also seized a rival bar and six rounds of bullet from their possessions.

Four cops were injured as the robbers locked into scuffling with them.

The held robbers were identified as Sirajul Islam Saikat, 28, Akash alias Alamin, 31, Raju, 20, Mohsin, 20, Swapon, 21, and Babul Chishti, 32.

Firoz Talukdar, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tongi Police Station, confirmed the news.

He said the robbers were trying to commit robbery in Dhaka-bound a bus of Suprovat Paribahan at Gaziprua area. Sensing the incident, duty police held them from the bus.

Four police men were injured as robbers scuffled with them to flee the scene. The injured cops were known as constable Billal, Shahin, Shahidul Islam and Liakat.

They were given first aid after the incident.
