Thakurgaon Correspondent: Police detained six suspected women including a child from a house at the Telipara area of Panchagarh district early Monday.

The detainees are identified as Maleka Begum (with her baby), Ambia Khatun, Ahchena Begum, Angura Begum, Surfa Aktar and Sumi. All of them hailed from Chunarughat Chandana area of Habiganj district.

According to primary interrogation, the six women came here in Panchagarh in order to visit a shrine named "Baro Auliya", police said.

Police said the women went to the house of a betel leaf vendor named Rabiul Islam and requested for shelter to spend a night there.

Locals informed police about the matter as suspicion of being involved in militant activity grew. Later, police went to the spot and took them to the Sadar police station for interrogation.

Rabiul Hasan Sarkar, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Panchagarh Police Station, said the women have no connection with any militant group but police are further investigating whether they have any link with any militant group.
