Six maunds of jatka seized in Bagerhat

Bagerhat Correspondent: The law enforcers seized six maunds of jatka from a market in Kebi Bazar of Bagerhat town on Monday morning.

Sources said that a mobile court led by district additional commissioner and executive magistrate Nazim Uddin conducted a drive in the fish market.

Meanwhile, the court also seized 100 kilogram banned Piranha fish from the market and detained two fish trader named Minhaz, 40 and Sattar Ali Sardar, 65.

Later, the mobile court fined Tk5,000 to Minhaz and Tk50,000 to Sattar. They have to suffer 15 days' jail in default of the payment of the fine.

The seized jatkas were distributed among the orphanages in the district, the fisheries officer added.
