84 Malaysia-bound held in Cox’s Bazar

Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: Police and coast guards have detained 84 Malaysia‑bound Rohingyas, including children and women in separate raids at Pekua and Cheradip of Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar early Saturday.

Zakir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Pekua police station said that on information from locals, a police team raided the area and rescued 67 Rohingyas including 15 children and 31 women and 21 men. The Rohingyas were taking preparation to go to Malaysia by sea route.

Commander Faizul Islam Mandal, in-charge of Teknaf Coast Guard Station, acting on secret information, coast guards personnel detained 17 Rohingyas including seven women and 10 men. Meanwhile, five human traffickers were also arrested. They were sent to Teknaf police station.
