ADB to give US$8bn financial aid

Staff Correspondent: Asian Development Bank (ADB) will give US$8bn to Bangladesh as financial aid in next five years.

Wencai Zhang, the Vice-President (Operations 1) of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), made the assertion at a press conference at its Agargaon office in the capital, Dhaka on Thursday.

Wencai Zhang is now on the three-day visit in Bangladesh.

Talking about his feeling during the Dhaka visit, Zhang said, “There are still many challenges in the economy of Bangladesh. The main challenges are to remove employment, infrastructure, and fuel crisis. The government should be very attentive to overcome these challenges.”

“I have been overwhelmed seeing the development of Bangladesh. I hope the country will continue its journey to success. ADB will continue its financial aid for the development of Bangladesh,” the ADB vice-president said.

He also highlighted the role of Asian Development Bank in the development of Bangladesh until now while speaking at the conference.

Wencai Zhang is expected to leave Bangladesh on Friday.
