AL agrees for dialogue with Oikyafront over election

Staff Correspondent: The ruling Awami League (AL) will sit with Dr Kamal Hossain led new political alliance Jatiya Oikyafront for dialogue over the 11th general election.

AL general secretary, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader came up with the disclosure in a press briefing in the capital on Monday.

Earlier, Jatiya Oikyafront leader Dr Kamal Hossain on Sunday wrote PM, also AL president Sheikh Hasina a letter to sit with Oikyafront for dialogue over election.

Obaidul Quader said, “Door of Sheikh Hasina is not closed for someone. The dialogue is not holding in face of pressure ahead of election and there is no pre-condition in this regard.”

“We did not bow down for someone’s pressure. We did not call anyone for dialogue. Oikyafront leaders want a dialogue. The door of discussion is always open for all. We agree with Oikyafront’s proposal,” he added.

He said, “Party leader Sheikh Hasina will lead for AL in the dialogue. We will inform them (Oikyafront) about date, time and venue and other relevant things in this regard very soon.”
