AL finally issuing show cause notices to upazila rebels

Senior Correspondent: The ruling Awami League (AL) is set to issue show cause notice against the leaders who opposed ‘boat’ (election symbol) in recently concluded upazila polls.

The party will start to serve letters to the leaders from September 8.

AL general secretary Obaidul Quader said this in a press briefing after joint meeting at the party president’s Dhanmondi political office on Tuesday afternoon.

Earlier, an advisory council meeting was held.

Quader said, “We abstain from some works in the month of mourning. So, decision taken over the upazila rebel candidates was not implemented. We will start to issue show cause notice to the rebels from September 8.”

According to sources, more than 200 names were sent to the central office of the party from different parts of the country. Rebels and instigators are included. Several ministers and MPs are also among them.
