Staff Correspondent: Former Upazila Parishad chairman of Comilla’s Titas upazila Parvez Hossain Sarker, who was picked up at gunpoint in filmy-style from Dhaka’s Lalmatia area under broad daylight, said that he was released after putting signatures on two stamps.
Parvez on Saturday noon, nearly 13 hours after he was rescued, told this to the reporters in front of his residence from where he was picked up.
He said, “They blindfolded me with a piece of black cloth immediate after they picked up me in the car. They made me inhale something and I fell unconscious.”
“After roaming different places, when I got my senses back, they took signatures from me on two stamps of Tk 200. Of which, one was written in Bengali and another was in English,” he added.
Parvez said, “I could not see light for long as I was blindfolded. When I signed on the stamps, I found arms with them. I was kept on gunpoint and forced to sign on the stamps.”
“Later at around 10:00pm, they left me in an open space near Kanchan bridge. I found an oil shop there. I went there and requested a man for his mobile. Then, I made call to my family and they took me home,” he said.
The Cumilla Awami League president Parvez was picked up from the gates of his house by several men while he was returning from Lalmatia Minar Mosque after Friday Jumma prayers.
