AL parliamentary board meeting today

Staff Correspondent: The parliamentary board meeting of the ruling Bangladesh Awami League would be held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban this afternoon.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 2pm today, said a Parliament Secretariat release.

Prime Minister and Awami League Parliamentary Board President Sheikh Hasina is expected to preside over the meeting.

The meeting has been convened as the maiden session of the 11th parliament is scheduled to begin around 3pm today with incumbent Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.

President Abdul Hamid has summoned the parliament session exercising the power bestowed upon him as per clause (1) of article 72 of the Constitution.

As per practice, the President delivers his speech in the first-day session of parliament every New Year.

New Speaker and Deputy Speaker will be elected on the first day of the session in accordance with the rules.
