AUW degree to be recognized for entry at Cambridge University

Staff Reporter, Chattagram: The University of Cambridge has recognized the Asian University for Women (AUW) undergraduate degree as a qualification for entry to its postgraduate programmes of study.

AUW graduates will now be eligible to apply directly upon completion of their undergraduate degree to a range of subjects offered by Cambridge.

The Lucy Cavendish College at the University of Cambridge will offer an annual scholarship dedicated to Lady Judy Moody Stuart, a benefactor and longtime supporter of AUW, and Vice Chair of the University’s Support Foundation in London.

The President of Lucy Cavendish College, Dame Professor Madeleine Atkins, accompanied by Lady Judy Moody Stuart, visited AUW in April 2019 to mark the creation of this prestigious scholarship. AUW is grateful to Lady Judy Moody-Stuart for supporting the opportunity for further education at a prestigious university.

Dame Professor Madeleine Atkins also announced that the AUW Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nirmala Rao, has been appointed as an Honorary Fellow of Lucy Cavendish College, University of Cambridge.

Commenting on the appointment, Professor Rao said, ‘To be recognised in this way is a wonderful and humbling personal honour.  My thanks to those who nominated me for this honorary fellowship; it is an unexpected delight to receive it and I am greatly looking forward to working with Lucy Cavendish’.

AUW is delighted with the new partnership with Lucy Cavendish and the opportunity for highly qualified graduates to enter Cambridge. AUW graduates have progressed to a number of leading Universities around the world, including Oxford, Johns Hopkins, Columbia, and many others in North America and Europe. A number are also pursuing postgraduate degrees at leading institutions across Asia, including Ewha Women’s University in South Korea, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Bangladesh). AUW graduates are studying for doctorates at the Universities of Stanford and New York.
