Abrar murder: Court accepts charge sheet

A Dhaka court has accepted the charges brought against 25 accused in connection with the case filed over death of BUET student Abrar Fahad.

After scrutinising the case dockets and other documents on Monday, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Kaisarul Islam accepted it and fixed the hearing date on December 3.

The court also issued arrest warrant against four who are still on the run.

Investigation Officer MD Wahiduzaman of Detective Branch of police submitted the charge sheet to Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Dhaka on November 13.  

Abrar, a second-year student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering department of BUET, died after he was allegedly beaten by some Chhatra League men brutally at a dormitory of the university.

The incident triggered a firestorm of protests on campuses across the country. Many took to social media to demand justice for Abrar.
