Arrest order against Sonagazi ex-OC

Staff Correspondent: A court has issued arrest order against former Sonagazi Police Station officer-in-charge Moazzem Hossain on charges of recording a rape victim and releasing the video on social media.

Dhaka Cyber Tribunal judge Ash-Shams Jaglul Hussein passed the order after taking the report of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) into congnisance on Monday noon.

The court fixed June 17 for next hearing.

Allegations brought against former Sonagazi OC Moazzem after Nusrat Jahan Rafi’s murder were found to be authentic by the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).

An investigation report was filed at the Cyber Tribunal by PBI’s Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Rima Sultana on Sunday.

On April 15, Syed Sayedul Haque Suman, a lawyer of the Supreme Court, sued Moazzem under the Digital Security Act in connection with recording the footage without Nusrat’s consent and spreading it on social media.

Video footage shows that Moazzem was asking Nusrat multiple “insulting and objectionable” questions one after another.
