Arrest warrant issued against Imran H Sarker

Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka court issued arrest warrant against Ganojagaran Mancha spokesperson Imran H Sarker in a defamation case filed over derogatory remark on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Dhaka Chief judicial magistrate Sheikh Samidul Islam issued the warrant on Wednesday.

The court also fixed October 26 to hearing in the case.

Earlier on May 31, Bangladesh Chhatra League Education and Study Circle Secretary Golam Rabbani filed the case against Imran H Sarker and cultural activist Sanatan Ullash.

According to the case statement, Imran and Sanatan chanted defamatory slogans against the prime minister during a process brought out on May 28 protesting the removal of Greek goddess Themis from the Supreme Court premises.
