Atiqul leads by huge margin

Staff Correspondent: Awami League backed mayoral candidate Atiqul Islam has taken the lead by a huge margin in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) by-election.

Atiqul received 387,279 with ‘Boat’ symbol while his nearest rival Jatiya Party’s candidate Singer Shafin Ahmed's 15,275 with ‘Plough’ till filing the report around 10:45pm on Thursday. 

DNCC Election Officer Md Abul Kashem has confirmed the results from Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC).

Besides, three other candidates Md. Anisur Rahman Dewan bagged 2,876 votes with ‘Mango’ symbol, independent candidate Md. Abdur Rahim got 2,876 votes with ‘Table Clock’ and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Shahin Khan got 3,311 votes with ‘Tiger’ symbol.
