Attack on Zafar Iqbal: SUST files complaint

Staff Correspondent, Sylhet: The authorities of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) have filed a complaint with Jalalabad police station over the attack on Prof Zafar Iqbal.

SUST registrar Md Ishfakul Hossain said that a complaint was filed on Saturday night on behalf of the university.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Zakiganj Police Station Shafiqur Rahman confirmed the matter on Sunday noon. 

He said, "No case was filed yet over the attack on Zafar Iqbal. However, a complaint was filed in this regard. After, primary investigation, the complaint will turn into a case."

On the other hand, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and police conducted a drive in the house of attacker Faizur Rahman. Finding no one in the house, police detained Faizur's maternal uncle named Fazlur Rahman from the area.

Earlier, on Saturday afternoon, a miscreant carried out the attack on the renowned writer during a programme of the department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST).
