Senior Correspondent: Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said that no participation of BNP in the upcoming upazila polls will be a suicidal attempt to them as like the previous times.
The Minister said this after the campaign committee meeting at the party president’s political office in city’s Dhanmondi area on Friday.
Hasan Mahmud said, “BNP is now afraid of going to the upcoming Upazila (UZ) polls after facing debacle in the last parliamentary elections held on December 30 in 2018.”
However, it is their (BNP) personal decision whether they will go to the polls or not, he added.
The Minister said, “BNP did not take part in the 2014’s elections but the government was formed in that election without them and ran the country for five years successfully.”
PM’s Political Advisor HT Imam, Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar, Awami League Deputy Publicity Secretary Aminul Islam Amin and Sheikh Tanmoy were present in the meeting.
