BIWTA shuts down all water transport services

Staff Correspondent: Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) on Monday has ordered a halt to all inland water transport services across the country due to bad weather.

BIWTA Public Relations Officer Mobarak Hossain Majumder said that the authority around 10:00am shut down all the river routes in the coastal region.

The launch communication will resume when the weather becomes normal, he added.

The depression is likely to cross the coast on Monday morning, the Met Office forecast.

The Met Office has advised to hoist Warning Signal No. 3 at the maritime ports. All the fishing boats and trawlers have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
