BJMC gets Tk 169cr to pay dues, wages

KMA Hasnath: The government has funded Tk 169.18 crore as loan for payment of dues, wages and festival allowances for jute mill workers.
However, the authority issued the fund following seven conditions. Finance division of Finance ministry released an order in this regard.
Sources said the finance division released the money for paying due salaries and allowances of workers till April this year. However, no officers of jute mills will get the money. Workers will get the money directly in their accounts through account pay cheques.
The loan has to be repaid in instalments every six months with a 5.0 per cent interest rate in next 20 years.
Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC) is one of the biggest employers in the country's industrial sector.
