BNP stunned over court’s observation in 21 August case

Senior Correspondent: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that BNP is stunned over the observation of court verdict in the August 21 grenade attack case.

The BNP leader made the opinion while addressing a press conference in capital's Nayapaltan on Friday.

He said that the court’s observation in its verdict in the August 21 grenade attack case is the exact reflection of the ruling Awami League’s political speech.

Fakhrul said “Like the countrymen, we have got stunned by the matter.”

He said that the court in the observation said the defeated forces of 1971 attempted to diminish the spirit of the Liberation War and halt development of the newly independent country by killing Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members on August 15, 1975.

Following Bangabandhu’s assassination, four national leaders were murdered inside a prison through a conspiracy. But the conspiracy did not stop, rather continued. Later, an evil attempt was made on August 21, 2004 to turn the Awami League into a leaderless organisation.

The BNP secretary general said that observation of the court and political speech of Awami League is totally same. It was noted that the gruesome killings of August 15 in 1971, assassination of the four national leaders inside prison and August 21 grenade attack cases were the result of same connection. But, BNP was not born in 1975. Besides, no BNP men were found accused in connection with the August 15 or November 3 cases."

“In this circumstance, how does the court can make such observations aiming BNP for all these incidents?” Fakhrul said.

"We hope responsible media will be keep them abstained to run propaganda against anyone intentionally," he said.
