BNP committing contempt of court in name of programme

Staff Correspondent, Narayanganj: Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is committing contempt of court in name of peaceful programme due to incapacity of staging demonstration.

The Minister came up with the remarks while talking to reporters during inauguration of super structure construction of Kanchpur Bridge on Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Siddhirganj in Narayanganj on Friday morning.

Quader said, "BNP did not think that no reaction would come from people after the party chairperson Khaleda Zia had been convicted in a graft case. Now, they (BNP) are branding their incapacity as peaceful protest programme."

"They are not protesting against the government, but against the decision of court. So, the party is committing contempt of court by their peaceful programme," he added.
