BNP demands restoration of caretaker govt to constitution

Senior Correspondent: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has demanded restoration of caretaker government system to the constitution before the 11th general election.

The party’s senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir came up with the demand in a press conference at its central office in the capital’s Nayapaltan on Sunday.

He said, “Amendment can be brought to the constitution how the ruling party made it earlier to abolish the caretaker system. It is possible to restore the caretaker government system how they (government) excluded it from the constitution.”

“This time, you must have to leave the power as much as vicious move you (government) take,” Rizvi added, saying the government is hatching conspiracy to cling on to the power.

He said, “There is no alternative of neutral government to assure people’s voting right. Countrymen will not allow to hold any election under Sheikh Hasina. Voting under her means rigging people’s franchise.”
