BNP desperate in despair: Quader

Staff Correspondent: Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said that BNP has become desperate because of its failures in the elections and frustrations after failing to stage strong movements.

The AL leader made the comment while speaking at an inaugural ceremony of 'Jubojagoron Library and Research Centre' organised by Dhaka South Juba League (youth wing of Awami League) on Friday.

Quader said, "I'm afraid the party has been acting like reckless drivers. It may cause an accident in politics anytime."

Obaidul Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said, "We have started work to bring new changes to the politics considering the public interest under the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. We do politics for people."

He called upon those entering politics to get into the habit of reading books.

"An activist in politics needs to study and become competent. Otherwise they'll end up serving the leaders," the AL leader said.

The minister said no political party would be allowed to hold rallies in the capital on working days.

In order to keep people free of hassles, we will hold indoor seminars on the upcoming three national days in March instead of rallies or mass gatherings, he said.
